Ingredients
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 5 ice cubes
- 1 & 1/2 tablespoons chocolate syrup
- 2 teaspoons powdered dehydrated sliced banana
Instructions
- Stir the banana powder into the milk on its own and give it two minutes. Dried banana is thirsty and clumps the instant ice touches it, and a clump never breaks up once it is cold.
- Add the yoghurt next and the chocolate syrup after that. Syrup poured onto ice sets into a thread and ends up wound round the blade instead of through the drink.
- Blend low until it is smooth, then bring the ice in and blend high in short bursts. A long run at high speed warms the mixture and you lose the ice you just added.
- Taste it before it reaches a glass. Banana powder varies enormously in sweetness depending on how ripe the fruit was when it was dried, and the syrup is the only lever you have.
- If it is thinner than you want, another half teaspoon of banana powder thickens it without diluting the chocolate. More ice would.
- Drink it straight away. Nothing is holding this together and it separates into a brown layer and a pale one within about ten minutes — a stir brings it back, but the foam does not come with it.
