Ingredients
- 1 cup vanilla yogurt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 5 ice cubes
- 3 tablespoons firmly packed brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons powdered dehydrated apple
- 2 teaspoons powdered dehydrated blueberries or other berries
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Rub the cinnamon into the brown sugar with your fingers before either goes in the jug. Ground cinnamon repels water and otherwise sits in a stubborn raft on top of the milk.
- Apple powder is the fussy one here and goes lumpy the moment it meets cold liquid. Mix it to a paste with a spoonful of the yoghurt first and the lumps never happen.
- Add the rest of the yoghurt, the milk and the berry powder and blend until the colour is even. Streaks of purple mean the powder is still sitting in pockets.
- Three tablespoons of brown sugar is a lot, and it is there because dried apple is tart. Put half in, taste, and add the rest only if it needs it.
- Ice goes in last, in bursts, with the lid kept on between them. Cinnamon dust thrown up by the blade will make you cough.
- Pour it out straight away. The apple powder goes on thickening as it stands, and in a quarter of an hour this turns from a drink into something you eat with a spoon.
